Find the event
Look up this week's tournament in the table. Guangzhou is on hard with an ace index of 159.
Read the index
An index of 159 means players hit 59% more aces there than their own usual rates predict. It already allows for who entered.
Apply it to an ace line
A player averaging the WTA norm of 2.7 aces per match works out to about 4.3 at Guangzhou. Compare that with the line, then check the returner on the ace matchups page.
Use the hold number for games
Guangzhou runs +3.2 points against expected hold %. More holds mean fewer breaks and closer sets, which matters for break points, games won and total games. Today's line and the hit rate against it are in PickFinder.
How this is counted
Counts finished singles matches, Nov 2, 2025 to Nov 2, 2026, so each event appears about once. The ace index compares aces hit at an event with aces expected from who served and who returned there. Server and returner strength are fitted together with the events across all WTA matches, tour and lower level, so an entry list full of big servers doesn't make a court look fast. 100 is the WTA average. Hold vs expected does the same for breaks of serve and shows the difference in points of hold %. Aces per match and hold % are raw counts. Aces per match rises in best-of-five events, so those are marked. Retired matches and walkovers are left out. An event needs 15+ finished matches. This measures results, not the court itself: weather, altitude and balls all land in the number. It isn't the ITF court pace rating.
