A half point is rarely worth the same amount twice. Moving an NFL spread off of 3 costs far more than moving off of 8, because far more games land on 3. This calculator uses historical league data to show what a spread or total priced at -110/-110 should cost half a point in either direction, for the NFL, NBA, NCAAF, NCAAB and more (MLB and NHL totals included).
Use it whenever you are choosing between a main line and an alternate line. If the calculator says the over at a half point lower is worth -129 and a book will sell it to you at -120, the alternate line is the better bet. It is one of the quickest ways to squeeze extra value out of markets you were going to bet anyway.
